The Department of Enviormental Quality (DEQ) recommends the following erosion and sediment control principles and practices be implemented on all construction sites:

1. Phase the construction activity(s)

2. Minimize the amount of disturbance at any one given time; preserve existing vegetation; implement stabilization measures.

3. Control run-on; prevent runoff from disturbed areas by directing it to vegetated areas Stabilize exposed soils immediately upon construction activity completion.

4. Protect slopes; break up slope lengths and steepness

5. Establish perimeter controls

6. Create stabilized entrances

7. Protect inlets/outlets

8. Inspect and maintain Best Management Practices
